Wallis in shock defeat by Steve Davis OBE at BIBA Conference
O'Connors "smoothie" Nigel Wallis was comprehensively beaten at pool by six times World Champion snooker professional Steve Davis OBE at this week's BIBA Conference at the London Excel Arena in front of a bustling crowd of brokers, insurers and assorted industry hangers-on.
Wallis said: "Steve told me he enjoys playing people who are better than him as it really ups his game. The result says it all. I must say, he seemed like a real gent and I felt we got on, as the insurers say, like a house on fire."
Commenting later, Steve Davis said: "He seemed a rather cocky, aggressive and talentless player with a highly-inflated opinion of his own abilities - just the sort of guy I like to take down a peg or two in front of an audience. I suggest he thinks hard before showing his face at a BIBA Conference again."
Co-incidentally, Steve is sponsored by Network VEKA, an insurance client of O'Connors, leading to inferences that Nigel's defeat was an act of pure diplomacy.
